TrueOak Roofing and Exteriors

Who we are

An oak stands for two hundred years because of what's underneath it. A roof is no different.

TrueOak is a year old and has put on more than a hundred roofs in that time.

We are not going to pretend that makes us the oldest name in South Jersey. What it does mean is that the crew works together week in and week out rather than being assembled job by job, and that every one of those roofs went on to the same specification.

That specification is the whole argument. We tear off rather than layer over. We replace decking instead of covering it. We put new flashing on every penetration and we balance the ventilation to the attic rather than putting back whatever was there. We put the workmanship warranty in writing.

If you are weighing us against a company that has been around thirty years, ask us both the same questions from the estimate checklist on our home page. What a contractor will put in writing tells you more than a founding date does.

None of that is exotic. It is just the specification a roof is supposed to be built to, and the reason a cheaper quote is usually a different job rather than a better price.

What you can hold us to

The things we put in writing

Licensed, bonded and insured

A surety bond, general liability and workers' compensation. Ask any contractor for all three before they start — it takes two minutes to check and most homeowners never do it.

Installed to the manufacturer's spec

Shingle warranties are void when the roof went on wrong. Yours goes on to the published specification for the material you chose — starter course, nailing pattern, ventilation and all.

Written workmanship warranty

Our labor, covered on paper, separate from the manufacturer's coverage on the materials. You get both documents at the walkthrough.

Itemized estimates

Scope, materials and the per-sheet decking rate, in writing, so you can put our quote next to anyone else's and compare like for like. The figure stays valid for twelve months.

How we sell

Things we don't do

Roofing has a reputation, most of it earned. Here is what you will not get from us.

  • No same-day-only pricing. Our written estimate is good for twelve months from the day you get it. A discount that expires tonight is a pressure tactic, not a discount.
  • No chasing you for an answer. No weekly follow-up call, no manager who happens to be in the area. You will have the report and a price that holds for a year. The next move is yours, and there is no hurry in it.
  • No door-knocking after storms. If someone turns up unannounced claiming your roof is totaled, get a second opinion from a contractor who was already working in your area before the storm.
  • Nothing said about your deductible. It is set by your policy. Any contractor offering to cover or waive it is proposing insurance fraud and putting your claim at risk.
  • No promises about claim approval. We document what is on your roof. What your carrier does with it is their decision.
  • No verbal warranties. If it is not on paper, it does not exist. That applies to us as much as anyone.
